<image:title>Blog - Pressing Play on Purpose: Lessons From a Second-Career Coach - Stepping into this next chapter of my professional life has been one of the most meaningful transitions of my career. Although I recognized coaching as my long-term purpose back in 2014, it took another decade of leadership experience, and a fair amount of spiritual growth, to become the coach I expect myself to be today.</image:title>

<image:caption>So it’s worth asking: How intentional is your own pre-planning? How strategic is the path you’re designing for yourself, your team, or your organization? If you, or your leaders, are looking to elevate performance in a way that aligns with your own design, let’s press play. You drive.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Interview with Stephen Northington, Certified Financial Planner® - Many leaders spend years climbing the professional mountain, only to arrive at the top and ask, “What’s next?” In this conversation, Stephen Northington, Certified Financial Planner® Professional at Ethos Capital Group, LLC sits down with Franklin Shirrell, Executive Leader and Founder of Legacy Coaching & Consulting, LLC, to explore the idea of the Second Summit—a season of life where identity, purpose, and impact expand beyond career achievements. Together, they discuss how leaders can reframe success, embrace curiosity, and discover the deeper significance that comes after the business card fades.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Interview with Stephen Northington, Certified Financial Planner® - [Stephen] Q: From your coaching perspective, what mindset shifts are most critical when beginning the Second Summit?</image:title>
<image:caption>[Franklin] “Don’t let fear of the unknown hold you back. Curiosity and learning make the journey enjoyable. But you have to put in the “thinking” work. For those who are risk-averse, simply taking steps within a guided framework to consider what your Second Summit might be is a low risk proposition — and it will change how you see yourself and how you think about ‘what’s next’. You owe it to yourself!”</image:caption>

Coaching equips leaders to focus energy where it matters most while developing systems and strategies to address recurring distractions effectively.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - A Client's Perspective on Executive Coaching - One of the first things I learned was to ask myself "why" and "what is my true motivation" before making any decision. This helped me clarify my goals, align them with my values, and avoid acting on impulse or emotion. By being more mindful of my intentions, I was able to make better choices that better supported my company. Another important focus area for me was emotional maturity. Franklin helped me to acknowledge and manage my own feelings and shortcomings, as well as those of others. Instead of reacting defensively or aggressively, I learned to respond constructively and empathetically. This improved my communication skills, my relationships, and my ability to resolve conflicts.</image:title>
<image:caption>Franklin also encouraged me to renew my focus on strengths-based leadership. He helped me identify my strengths and weaknesses, and how to leverage them for optimal results. He also taught me how to recognize and appreciate the strengths of my team members, and how to motivate them accordingly. By focusing on what we do best, we were able to achieve more with less stress and frustration.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - A Client's Perspective on Executive Coaching - I have applied what I learned to my personal and professional life. I have seen positive changes in myself, and my relationships. My leadership has also noticed and praised me for making allies out of former enemies.</image:title>
<image:caption>I believe that executive coaching is a worthwhile investment for any leader who wants to enhance their skills and performance. I did not initially realize that it was not only about learning new techniques or strategies, but also self-improvement and work-life balance. I am in a much better place all around because of this experience.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Imposter Syndrome: A Hidden Barrier for Capable Leaders - Peter Drucker’s classic essay, Managing Oneself, offers useful perspective on this issue. <image:caption>Robert was a top performer managing a team of professionals in a highly intense, publicly traded environment. Demands on his team and the broader divisional team included the responsibility to manage risks that could potentially compromise the organization. The division experienced a leadership change accompanied by a culture change. The new division leader wanted the “lieutenants” to work more cohesively together as peers and dispel any divisiveness among them. Several measures were taken to accomplish this goal, including professional coaching offered to Robert as an additional investment in his leadership development, which he accepted with appreciation.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Coaching for Balancing Humility and Assertiveness in Leadership Roles - The Power of Balanced Assertiveness “Brock” was a high performing team leader within a newly emerging and rapidly growing company. As with so many, COVID had a major impact in ways unique to everyone - especially extroverts, such as Brock. Growing up in a small town with a large family, Brock was blessed with “community”. His need for connectedness was heavily challenged by the work-from-home environment and being located several hundred miles away from company headquarters.</image:title>
<image:caption>Brock had performed well, while informally positioning himself as a team lead but extremely careful not to overstep the boundaries of his role. He wondered if anyone up the chain was noticing his work and if he would ever have a shot at next-level leadership.</image:caption>

<image:caption>If you’ve perused my website, you probably noticed quite a dedicated effort to describe what coaching is and links to scientific studies on coaching outcomes. This is for two primary reasons: 1) The differences between coaching, mentoring, counseling and consulting are important to understand when considering the type of professional service most appropriate for your situation. Among these professional services, less is typically known about coaching versus the others.</image:caption>
