A Client's Perspective on Executive Coaching
What I experienced from my Executive Coaching sessions
The following is a reflection from an executive coaching client on their experience with Franklin Shirrell, Founder of Legacy Coaching & Consulting, LLC. Names have not been included to respect the privacy and confidentially of the client.
“As a leader, I always strive to improve myself and my performance. That's why I was excited to meet with Franklin and experience executive coaching.
One of the first things I learned was to ask myself "why" and "what is my true motivation" before making any decision. This helped me clarify my goals, align them with my values, and avoid acting on impulse or emotion. By being more mindful of my intentions, I was able to make better choices that better supported my company.
Another important focus area for me was emotional maturity. Franklin helped me to acknowledge and manage my own feelings and shortcomings, as well as those of others. Instead of reacting defensively or aggressively, I learned to respond constructively and empathetically. This improved my communication skills, my relationships, and my ability to resolve conflicts.
Franklin also encouraged me to renew my focus on strengths-based leadership. He helped me identify my strengths and weaknesses, and how to leverage them for optimal results. He also taught me how to recognize and appreciate the strengths of my team members, and how to motivate them accordingly. By focusing on what we do best, we were able to achieve more with less stress and frustration.
Throughout the coaching program, Franklin was a great source of support and feedback. He challenged me to step out of my comfort zone, to try new things, and to learn from my mistakes. He also celebrated my successes and encouraged me to keep growing.
I have applied what I learned to my personal and professional life. I have seen positive changes in myself, and my relationships. My leadership has also noticed and praised me for making allies out of former enemies.
I believe that executive coaching is a worthwhile investment for any leader who wants to enhance their skills and performance. I did not initially realize that it was not only about learning new techniques or strategies, but also self-improvement and work-life balance. I am in a much better place all around because of this experience.
